Dale was my father's first cousin. We used to camp in her front yard next door to you, summers for a week or two from about 1959 to 1966. I'd really like to know more Yeadon history. Mr. Rankin, I do believe that you are responsible for more areas than just Brookside. Take OLD COACH ROAD for example.
Homeowners there have been forced to pay for the Chipsealin down 2 years ago. WE had to accept this even though a buisness with Golf course and restraunt were at the end of our road. They were not even made to pay the bulk of the cost. Time for you to address these issue Mr. Rankin and stop showing any forms of favoritism.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12428328979962069469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3371293008876926008.post-51101821938130893352014-12-15T00:43:05.981-04:002014-12-15T00:43:05.981-04:00Why do those residents get special treatment, in m...Why do those residents get special treatment, in my subdivision we all had to pay.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3371293008876926008.post-21675269816805855202014-12-14T21:47:18.485-04:002014-12-14T21:47:18.485-04:00I'm happy for the residents who are getting th...I'm happy for the residents who are getting the paving at no cost but you can bet I'm going to be writing to Mr. Ian Rankin about this. Swimming and cracking my head open diving off the dock into McGrath Lake on the first day of summer vacation and the drowning of the Yeadon toddler (3 years old or so I think) were more painful. The family never recovered from the drowning in the brook, so heart-broken. We were tenants treated by the Yeadon's like family. We shared their pain and deeply mourned their loss.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3371293008876926008.post-28591474345385433792014-04-03T22:42:36.597-03:002014-04-03T22:42:36.597-03:00Street names in Brookside : YEAHOLM WAY: named a...Street names in Brookside : YEAHOLM WAY: named after 1st three letters of Walt Yeadon and first 4 of Evelyn HOLMES Yeadon ( Walters wife ) ,, Eunice ( Walters mother ) Melissa ( Evelyns mother) Cathy ,Tracy ,Kelly, Shannon all Walters grand-daughters ( not necessarily in order )
Harvey MacDonald Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3371293008876926008.post-24081782945649765302014-03-11T21:19:42.526-03:002014-03-11T21:19:42.526-03:00I'm Mike Yeadon the son of Dale Yeadon who had...I'm Mike Yeadon the son of Dale Yeadon who had done quite a bit of research on the family in Brookside and I thought I would share what I knew. The first family member who we believe came from England (John Yeadon) had a grant in Rawdon and subsequently moved to Spryfield. One of his children William Yeadon married Elizabeth Drysdale and her dowry was the property that is Brookside. The Drysdale family at that time had grants as well in the Goodwood area. Their son, John George Yeadon married Mary Anne Yeadon and they were the first family members to live at times in Brookside (they lived between Halifax and Brookside intermittently) They were the first burials in the Brookside Cemetery and on John George's death the property in Brookside was divided amongst five of their children (there were other children who are as well buried in the Brookside Cemetery). The five children who held property were Robert Yeadon (who was Charlie and Dave Yeadon's father and Deb Muise MacDonald's great grandfather), John Yeadon (no descendants) William Yeadon (who was Walter Yeadon's father and my great grandfather), Carteret Yeadon (who was George Yeadon's father and Hillary Ripley's great grandfather) Bessie Yeadon Colquhoun (who married Dave Yeadon and eventually owned the family farm and surrounding properties at the end of the road). All of the Yeadon's in Brookside share a common ancestor in John George Yeadon and Mary Anne Yeadon. They as well are the link between the family that live in Brookside and those that live in Spryfield.

There we other families that lived here in the very early years and the names Carmichael, Hennebury and Stone come to mind. I believe that members of the Stone family are buried in the Brookside Cemetery although their graves are not marked with headstones. There are a group of rocks at the head of the lake that are named "Nelson's rocks" and I believe they are named after Nelson Stone.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3371293008876926008.post-90326853949267250982013-10-20T11:33:09.318-03:002013-10-20T11:33:09.318-03:00The Plants brochure was first published in 2005 by...The Plants brochure was first published in 2005 by Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust .Two Dalhousie Biology students Krystle Olsen and Dave Mealia under supervision of Dr. Mark Johnston completed the field work and compiled the first brochure with line drawings. ottawa roofing companiesalbina N murohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08139646674252673476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3371293008876926008.post-18712527159544002402013-03-11T16:47:29.060-03:002013-03-11T16:47:29.060-03:00Signage for the walking trail is a great idea, we&...Signage for the walking trail is a great idea, we'd visited the playground half a dozen times before we realized that little path went somewhere!
